why do you assume i failed in promotion? because i don't anymore? I'm a busy guy, and the music i enjoy wouldn't do well in this market, so instead of wasting my money, bands time, and venues time, i don't book. Its less of a headache to drive to philly to see a band than try to do something here that no one will get into.
confused, turdburglar, who ever you are. i'll call you ted. ted, of course i listen to music. It was a joke. but you bring up a point. maybe i should put one of the autistic kids in charge of booking shows, they can't be worse than that sage kid, or dave at waterstreet.
i didn't say shit about storm the bay. i'm not hiding behind anon status other than because i'm lazy and don't wanna log in. if i want to talk shit on a band, i will. storm the bay isn't my jam. i'm not gonna bring up some irrelevant point, despite it's accuracy. i know no one here would like my band or my projects. it's no big deal.

There's no need for anymore bickering on this thread really.
YES, after dark makes their locals sell pre sales. Payment and time slot is directly related to this. I agree thats not the way it should be, but thats how it is. I have yet to work with ANY promoter in the area where it isn't that way.
all the moaning and groaning about scene points, duckets, grammar; its all dumb. most of us on this board will probably never have truly impeccable grammar.
one last thing: unless randy jackson was in journey when you helped book them, I'm not impressed.

randy jackson was only a studio musician for journey bro. learn youre journey facts!
i guess if you wanna play water street or montage or some other shitty venue then you'll have to sell presale.i'll never have the courtesy of playing one of those dumps because unless i have something uip my sleeve i won't ever sell tickets. i remember like wolves played there, and didn't sell pre sale tickets. weird. i'm happy playing small shows, with decent promoters. i'd love to see all these twats fail, but it won't as long as retard bands go along with the pre sale motif. it's utterly disrespective to ones self and band to agree to that shit. and saying you don't agree with it, but you go along with it? thats like the holocaust, or anti gay marriage or letting black people in white schools. you don't do anything you agree with it. but i digress i've made that point clear.

yeah i'm not really following either....if people want to see a band and there are tickets for sale, people will ask for the tickets. Just because tickets are involved doesnt mean you need to harass your friends and loved ones like a door to door salesmen. If people want to see you, they will find a way to be there. Sometimes we sell alot of tickets, other times not so much....either way there is usually a ton of people that come out.
If they like you......they will come.

i didn't say i wouldn't book there. i'm saying i wouldn't play a dump like that because my band will not play a show that requires pre sale tickets, unless i had a motive, because there is never a show i wanna play bad enough to whore myself out for a lazy shitty promoter that can't do his fucking job. that shit was wack in the 80s, it's just as bad now. i NEVER had a legit venue deal that way when i was in any other spot than here. it's the sign of a promoter that can't do his job right.
if a band wants pre sale tickets, i can sell presalei tickets. i can give bands tickets to sell if they want too. but just because some toy band sells a shit ton of tickets to their silly friends and families doesn't mean i'm having them play over a band thats actually good.
so look at things in two ways: first, as a booker. i would put on bands i like and that i knew would have a draw that would fit with the band playing. if a young band wanted to play a show, the would give me thir tape, i'd listen and be like nahh kid not yet, or yeah you can open this. not ok you can play, but you have to sell 15 tickestes, and if you don't you can't play. shits dumb. its my job to sell tickets.
second, as talent. my job is to play musici'm not promoting the show. i didn't book it. i will play when i am supposed to based on any number of reasons, but not one of them would be how many tikets i sold. and based on my temper and spite, if i'm told i play third and you try to make me go on second, because some shitty band sold tickets shit will not fly.
