My band is getting ready to record. What studios do you recommend? I'm looking for good quality at an affordable price. We also want to go with someone who is a good producer. Any ideas?

I heard good and bad about Brian..
The positives: -He's a cool guy -He does good work -He is in the area
The Negatives: -He's pretty expensive -Over booked -Bad with deadlines

Well, Brian is busy but that is because he is the best in the area. And remember, you get what you pay for, even though I thought RedBooth was pretty affordable.

Like I said there r tons of great studios in the area. Redbooth just happens to be my personal favorite. Obviously u r going to hear about pros and cons about any studio. For me it was finding a studio that I felt the most comfortable, I guess vibe? Plus brian in my opinion just has that ability to see things musically how u see or hear it and will indefinitely work to achieve whatever that may be. So once again ask yourself the above questions, most studios in the area are def willing to chat prices and what not so u might have to do some legwork. Good luck!

Check out The Square Studios. Pretty affordable, not as good as quality as Redbooth but not terrible at all.

DWS IN BUFFALO !! You get to work with a real musician who has been in a world touring band. prices are very good. and the quality i think is the best around. i would never go anywhere else. especially if you are doing metal.

I've had the pleasure of recording at both Square and Red Booth in the past year. They are both great. Brian and Steve are both PHENOMINAL musicians, and great engineers.
Steve at Square is an awesome dude and he has a great ear. He also gets you a final product fairly fast. He was easy too work with, and the studio had a homey feel and was comfortable. Storm the Bay recorded our By All Means EP with him, and he mastered it as well, and it sounds great. I'm still pretty proud of that EP.
We've been in and out of the Red Booth since the beginning of December recording our new EP, and honestly the experience working with Brian has been amazing. The live room at the new location sounds amazing! Brian has a really good ear, and comes up with alot of great ideas from a producer standpoint as well as an engineering standpoint. One of the things he did that really stood out to me was remaining concious of me not wearing myself out while tracking drums. Plus in my opinion, the final product is much better from Red Booth. I've only heard raw un mixed tracks so far, and even that blows me away. Your final product will absolutely take longer to get, but in my opinion the better sounding recording is whats more important in the end rather then having it right away.
Also on a sidenote, Brian had to move his entire studio twice in the past year, on top of getting married. That would slow even the most productive of workers down. Brian is where it's at, and Red Booth is legit!

Brian does good work, but unfortunately I did not have a good experience recording there. Not saying you will have a similar one with the same circumstances, just saying from what happened to me I couldn't recommend him to anyone, nor can I say I'd go back for another project.

I will always respect and admire the product Brian puts out, but I am not okay with the fact that the product has taken as long as it has. You can say it's worth the wait, and that he has had a busy year all you want, but I will not let anyone try to convince me that not having a mix product that you paid in full upfront 6 months after you recorded is good business because it isn't. It would be one thing if he was mixing it for that long but the fact is he isn't, and my band was put on the back burner. I'm not saying I hate him, or that he's a bad guy. I'm just saying after that, I wouldn't go back no matter how good it comes out. I'm sure if you were in the same situation you would be slightly upset as well.
