Agreed to every statement about the tough guys. It's gotten out of hand. "moshing" is one thing. Be an asshole is another.

i also think its funny how you kids say that people who dance hard or end up in handcuffs arent there for the music. hardcore and shows, last time i checked, was a place for kids to be able to release their negativety and agression in a positive way when they hear something in a song that really gets to them.and i personally dont think that hardcore needs security to be there. from the past, ive seen security always do more worse than good. fights, if it happens, are way better off broken up by other people within the scene, then some douchebag security guard and it has, from what ive seen, worked out way better.
oh, and the reason i ended up in handcuffs, just for the record, was because i was dancing, and the security guards wanted to stand right in the pit, and i accidently hit one, then they attacked me, so i did what i had to do, and then finally, 5 of them all jumped on me at once. if the security would have been there in the back or off to the side, letting everyone do what they wanted, and only getting involved when absolutely necessary, that would have never taken place.
and if stuff does keeps happening at every show, they obviously are there for it. why the fuck else would they keep going to shows for and who the fuck are you, to assume peoples motive for going to shows. everyone goes for different reasons, but everyone is obviously there, intially for the music. and if you dont like getting hit or being involved with that kind of stuff, dont go. do i support fighting at shows? no. absolutely not. again, if the fight is still worth it when you both have had time to make your way outside, then by all means, do so. but do i think people should be able to dance as hard as they want, yes. ive had plenty of injuries, been to the hospital numerous times for stitches, and all kinds of other shit. its apart of it. bottom line is dont be a little bitch. everyone is there to have fun and everyone has fun a different way and if you cant go exist with one another, dont go. end of story.

To be honest dude, i really don't care about any of that shit you have no right to touch another person. period, its a crime its called assault, its cool between buddies sure but when im standing around and some asshole hits me and does not apologize and laughs about it with his buddies, that dude deserves one of two things a solid ass kicking witch i would have no problem handing out if he wasn't a coward and need ten of his buddies to back him up, or two they need to go to jail, for the record i have never had a problem my self at a show getting hit or what ever and i only ever was once and i handled my business, i am not a coward and i can stick up for my self. I am however speaking for my friends who come to shows with me or to see my band that have to deal with "tuff guys" when they are there to support. I really think people like you ruin shit for every one else you make it so no one wants to go to shows dancing is one thing have fun but keep it in th pit dont hit people with there backs turned and if you do stop and apologize don't be a fucking dick. I understand you are having a good time but you should not be able to have yours at the expense of another. End of story

I agree with Rob. I love music a lot, and I can say that I really don't go to shows for that reason. So what I don't enjoy being shoved around or hit while trying to enjoy a show? And I have yet to learn that releasing negative feelings and emotions in a negative way is a positive thing. Hitting people, and being a complete jerk to relieve your stress or "inner feelings" seems like you need some serious counseling. Just don't go and get married and have kids and have your hardcore instincts come out when you're not happy with them.

Yeah, considering I am no longer care to attend these "shows" if that's what you want to call them I'm just gonna go ahead and say that majority of the people in the "pit" "throwing down" look like complete idiots. Do you realize how dumb you look? Parents who attend shows literally stand at the bar and laugh at how ridiculous you look. I don't see the point. I can't even take half of you seriously as humans because you look like a bunch of animals humping each other.

I personally think all of the venues in rochester are poorly run, and treat the musicans like shit. And not only do I have to go to a venue where I'm not respected and treated like shit I have to listen to all the shitty bands that get booked that make my ears bleed to death, and for "moshing" or "throwing down" since when did it become cool to swing your arms in a flair and kick your legs around like your having seizure to show your "apprecation" for the music? How does that make any sense? If I go to a show I want to be able to stand where I please without getting shoved out of the way by some faggot that wants to be a baboon and treat eveyone around them like the trees they swing on. If you see me at a show I'm probably going to be there to hang out with some friends or see a band I actually like, which if its a band that I like there will most likely not be any of this hardcore "dancing" since my favorite bands are machester orchestra, fun., brand new, and circa survive. And I know some of you are going to be "lyk3" then don't come to our shows!! But the truth is I probably wouldn't have gone and seen your "hardcore/metal" band if I didn't get stuck playing a show with them, yes emulet/heavy lies the crown did have screaming but we were not metal at all...but we got put with metal band because there were not enough diverse bands in rochester...

hahahah! thats cute. i state my opinion on the issue since it seemed to be one sided, and when someone goes against the grain, or has their side of it, or has a different view, you go talk shit behind your computers. how ironic that you talk about people physically acting "tuff", but you are doing it on the internet with keystrokes. hahahah! what a joke!
oh, and people have been doing this shit(dancing/moshing/etc) since the late 70s-early 80's. its nothing new. the only thing ive been finding new is with more social networking and more technology, mankind keeps on getting softer and softer like yourselves, for instance. last time i checked, we are animals first, and we still have those instincts. i think its better at a show to music where its acceptable, then out in the streets. i dont know, maybe im wrong and you were born without testosterone or a pair, or maybe you guys all actually live the dream and life is perfect or whatever and you just have nothing to be pissed off about? maybe all you see is sunshine and rainbows and are super duper positive. if so, good for you. although, i dont personally know you so i dont know.
again, you know what youre getting into before you arrive at a show and you know how certain people act. me personally, dont really act like that very much anymore and havent in a very long time, but deff enjoy watching everyone else with the music and if i happen to get hit(which happens frequently) or get my eyebrow split open and i have to get stitches, or my jaw gets hit so hard that my jaw locks for a month, or get kicked so hard, i piss blood, or whatever else happens, happens, so be it. i know whats involved when i walk through those doors. and do i usually involve myself or say something when i do see younger kids getting hit? yes, i do. i dont agree with girls or younger kids getting hit and have involved myself many times when ive seen that go on.
so, go ahead and talk all the shit you want on the internet or assume you know how i dress or what kind of a person i am, cause the truth is you have no idea. this is a message board where people comment on topics and you can say all you want on here, but it doesnt really mean shit in real life cause when you go to that show, the same thing is still gonna happen and all youre gonna do is come back to a message board after whatever happens, happens, and youre just gonna cry about it online.. or instead, you could talk to those people? idk? become mutual with them. get to know everyone involved so maybe the next time they come your way, theyll see you and respect you. if youre constantly going to shows, you should end up eventually knowing the majority of people that attend, right? and how many times have you actually confronted issues that happen at shows? you seem to hate when you see your friends or females get hit ,but have you ever stepped in or said a word to the people doing it and let them know that it isnt cool or to chill out? if you havent, maybe you should. you might better results from that then from bitching about it on message board.

Im not acting tough at all dude! just stating my opinion, the same as you are. You are absolutely correct in saying you have the right to voice your opinion, but I have every right to voice mine as well. I don't think I'm acting tough, just saying how i honestly feel. As far as making judgements on you as a human being or the kind of person you are, that is not my intention at all. You are correct in saying I don't know you, and can't judge the kind of person you are. I have no formed opinon on you as an individual. BUT- the whole tough guy mentality thing, that I do have an opinion on. I think it's dumb. Do I mean for you to take that as a personal attack? absolutely not! you may be completely correct in saying its just something i dont understand. the grass is always greener on the other side. I'm not saying my opinion is the end all.
and one last thing, I'm not the type to put up a tough front behind a keyboard, being the toughest dude on a message board is like being the smartest kid in the special olympics. I'm not even the type to put up some false tough front in person, I am who I am. I'm just honest about my opinion. I know that we have mutual friends, chances are that I'll see you around somewhere sometime, and I would be glad to talk to you and get to know you as a person, doesnt mean itll change my opinion on excessive throwing at shows. you can ask me my opinion on the matter in person anytime, i wont bitch out. Im not saying any of this anonymously, my name is steve koch, and im at a decent amount of local shows. feel free to have a conversation with me anytime

Instincts would say move the fuck out of the way if you are repeatedly getting smashed and busted. How many broken jaws does it take to finally realize to not stand there?
Haha but in all seriousness. The bottom line is just have respect for each and other person that is at that show. Respect the pit but also respect the people watching the show. There is no reason to run around the outside of the pit slugging people in the skull. We can argue all day about who is "tough" and who is "soft" but in reality it doesn't matter. Everyone is at that show to see a band play.
